New Building for Danny & Friends Center

Not long after Danny & Friends started serving Muscular Dystrophy patients and their families in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, we had the chance to purchase a building owned by the YWCA. The building has served as offices, space for physical therapy and a gathering place for special events. Throught the years many of the more than 240 patients and families we have served have used the center for various events and services.

Several years ago, it became home to a young adult MD patient, Ramesh Kumar, who had no one to take care of him. Ramesh comes from a Hindu background, but has accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. He has always had a cheerful attitude despite his physical limitations. Ramesh recently went to live with his father, from whom he was estranged for many years.

Unfortunately, it has become more and more evident that the Danny & Friends building has become uninhabitable. The structure has deteriorated, and inspectors recommended demolishing it and rebuilding.

Our goal is to build a new structure on the same property, which will provide a medical treatment room for patients with acute medical needs (the government hospitals are crowded and often don’t know how to deal with the special needs of MD patients), a physical therapy unit, meeting hall and office space.

The estimated cost to build the new building is $50,000. We hope to start construction in January, and be able to move in before the 25th anniversary of Danny & Friends in August.

Please consider a year-end gift. You can give here, or send a check to Global Friends Network, 510 N. Hanover St., Anaheim, CA 92801.
